Megan MacMahon Principal’s Comments: Thank you to everyone who participated and helped with our 2015 Annual Dance Concert. It was an absolute load of fun and could not have been more proud of the hard work and dedication all students and parents put in. 2016 for dance has already begun with some even more exciting events during the year. We started the year with an exciting appearance by 4 amazing choreographers who conducted 4 genres of inspiring dance classes. Everyone had a ball and I’m looking at having a similar workshop later down the track!! Enjoy what’s to come!
2016: First week back is ORIENTATION WEEK, meet and greet each teacher and their respective genres by trying out unlimited classes for $10. Normal timetables will begin the following week. Times & classes may change or be cancelled at any time during first term due to inadequate student numbers and teacher availability. Waves Annual Dance Concert will be held EARLY NOVEMBER 11th & 12th at the Evans Head RSL Club. If dates change all student families will be notified during the year. More concert details will follow also during Term 3 & 4.
CLASSES AVAILABLE: JAZZ, BALLET, TAP, HIP HOP, MODERN, CONTEMPORARY, PRIVATE CLASSES: *EXAMS (ATOD-JazzB, Jazz Moves, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Tap), *EISTEDDFOD Solo/Duo/Trio
EXAMS: Under Australian Teachers of Dancing (ATOD) we are able to facilitate exam lessons consisting of learning and critically analysing exercises, combinations and dances. Learning particular exercises through exams helps the student recognise their own potential. The Syllabi used enables students to delve closer to the foundations of dancing. It will improve strength, balance, core, posture, flexibility and overall will encourage students to achieve through hard work. We offer most genres at various levels, catering for all ages. Please enquire about Private Exam Classes to schedule into our weekly program. Examination entries for all genres will be submitted by PARENTS ($60-$180 per exam, depending on grade and additional students in same exam). Examinations are usually held in August.
Fundraising: We will be holding various fundraising events during the year including a DISCO NIGHT for student opportunity/studio equipment, selling chocolate and lolly boxes to go towards end of year costumes. More info to come.
Behaviour: STRICTLY NO BULLYING OR HARRASSMENT POLICY. Any misbehaviour inside or outside class halls will be dealt with by appropriate measures. Any student who is rude, violent, intentionally intimidating, or speaks in an inappropriate way towards others will be asked to sit out and will be spoken to with a parent if necessary. If behaviour persists or at any point is uncontrollable suspension/expulsion will be considered. Parents should be willing to take responsibility for their child’s behaviour. Any disrespect to or from teachers will also be dealt with by appropriate measures. Please forward any concerns to Megan MacMahon.
Fees: Fees are charged per term see timetable for class costs. $15 insurance/admin fee applies per student prior to students’ first class. Waves Dance Studio prefers Direct Deposit payments in FULL. Cash and Cheques can be made at the beginning of each term to Waves Dance Studio or Megan MacMahon. All classes are compulsory to ensure each student gets the most out of each term. 15% late fee will apply on invoices 1 week overdue. Private Class Pricing: $10per person per half hour. $12 per person per 45mins. $15 per person per 1 hour. Same prices will apply for additional rehearsals/classes outside the weekly scheduled classes.
ALL Eisteddfod entries for Solo/Duo/Trios will be submitted by PARENTS ($8-$25 per dance). Examination entries for all genres will be submitted by PARENTS ($60-$180 per exam, depending on grade and additional students in same exam). Extra fees will apply in Term 4 for Costume (Compulsory $30-$60), Trophy for each student (optional $10), DVD (optional $15).
